RWI on the IMF Guide,Illuminating Resource Revenue Transparency
Senior Economist Akram Esanov reviews the latest version of the International Monetary Fund’s Guide, which has become an important reference source for civil society and government. The updated Guide covers key fiscal issues such as medium-term budgeting framework, long-term reporting, and internal oversight of revenue flows.  It can also help resource abundant countries to identify the projects that will have the greatest impact on revenue transparency. OSI-RELATED EVENTS

OSI Delegation Meets with Arab Parliamentarians against Corruption Head
Dr. Nasser Al-Sane, deputy president of the Global Organization for Parliamentarians against Corruption and head of the Arab Parliamentarians against Corruption (APAC), met Saturday, March 18 with Mr. Anthony Richter and Mr. Gregor Meiering from the Open Society Institute in New York. OSI is currently focused on transparency in the oil and gas producing countries, and the extent of data access allowed to agents monitoring that sector.

Escaping the Resource Curse: Managing Natural-Resource Revenues in Low-Income Countries
This February 24 event, hosted by the Center on Globalization and Sustainable Development of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, was sponsored by the Open Society Institute.

Lessons Learned and Future Directions in Budget and Revenue Monitoring PDF file
On April 24-25, 2004, Revenue Watch, the International Budget Project and the Center for Policy Studies held this workshop to determine what we can learn from the experiences of budget advocates that can help enhance the policy influence of (existing and potential) natural resource monitoring groups (specializing in oil and gas revenues monitoring).

2003 JOURNALISM TRAINING
In November, 2003, Revenue Watch is co-sponsoring two workshops on "Covering Resource Wealth," with the aim of helping reporters strengthen their understanding of the effect that oil wealth has on development and the importance of corporate governance.

OSI's Revenue Watch Program Becomes Independent Institute

In June 2006, the Open Society Institute spun off its Revenue Watch program to create an independent Revenue Watch Institute (RWI), a sister organization to coordinate and lead the Soros Foundation Network’s (SFN) work on transparency and accountability in resource-rich countries.

IMF: Azerbaijan's Poverty Reduction Progress
The Government of Azerbaijan submitted its Progress Report on Poverty Reduction Strategy to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in October 2004. IMF Joint Staff has released its assessment of the progress report prepared by the government.
