BTC HOST OWNERS CONCERNED ON VIOLATION OF RIGHTS

Baku, IAA "Trend" May 15 corr. E.Mammadova

The League of Citizens' Labor Rights held a news conference on Friday dedicated to violation of rights of the citizens, who hosted the BakuTbilisiCeyhan (BTC) main export oil pipeline.

Attending the event were residents of the villages of Lak, Hajally, AliBayramly and Agasibayli of the Samukh District, Trend reports

Sahib Mammadov, chairman of the Executive Committee of the League, said that the plot owners' complains mainly concerned unfair distribution of compensation, violation of right by the local municipalities, executive powers, the State Company on Land and Cartography, police and BTC Co. "Ganjabased Information and Legal Assistance Center has received over 100 statements. We held meeting with representatives from the Committee and companies BTC Co. and BP to inform them about the serious violation of citizens' rights. The facts of violation were also fixed in other regions BTC runs through. BTC Co. said the company received over 1500 appeals of the kind," Mammad noted.

Mammadov said the Center had sent the appeals by the suffered to the legal bodies. The issue was discussed in a meeting with the local executive power.

The league asserted that the upper layers of the soil were deteriorated, though the company constructing the oil pipeline had undertaken a commitment on preservation of nature. "The heavy technique is withdrawn from the rent area during the construction and as result the territory, which was not given for rent is damaged. In addition, dust covering air exposes health of local people, in particular old people and children to danger," the League alarmed.
