AZERBAIJAN NOT TO REFUSE FROM BAKU-NOVOROSSIYSK AFTER COMMISSIONING BTC

Baku, IAA "Trend" April 30 corr. P.Kesamanski

Azeri oil export via the Baku-Novorossiysk needs to more optimal, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev told a news conference held in the Council of Europe headquarters to summarize the results of his visit to Strasbourg, Trend reports.

The President clarified that it was dealt with oil produced by SOCAR and deliveries by foreign oil companies active in Azerbaijan are not taken into consideration. Azerbaijan currently exports 2.5 million tons of oil a year via the BAku- Novorossiysk pipeline. Besides, 6 million tons of oil is pumped via the Baku- Supsa route.

According to Aliyev, export capacity of Azerbaijan will raise to 50 million tons a year after commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export pipeline

"It does not mean we will refuse from the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline," Aliyev said, adding the necessity of making the export in this direction 'more optimal'.

At present the working group established jointly with Russia is considering the terms to make optimal export deliveries of Azeri oil via the northern route.
