KAZAKH, TURKMEN OIL DELIVERIES VIA AZERBAIJAN
TO RISE

The volume of Kazakhstan and Turkmen oil deliveries via the
territory of Azerbaijan onwards to world markets via the Baku0Batumi
railway route is expected to rise in April 2005, Musa Panahov,
Deputy Transport Minister, told journalists, Trend reports.
Oil transit via the territory of the country comprised 3
million tons in the first quarter against 3.1 million tons
in 2003.
Panahov explained the fall with cut in oil transit from Turkmenistan,
which preferred the oil delivery system to Iran. "The
system is cheaper by 8-10% for oil traders, while restrictions
will not affect on its transit via Azerbaijan," Panahov
underlined.
In 2004 oil deliveries is via railway is expected to increase
by 500,000- 700,000 tons against 11.6 million tons in 2003.
