LUKOIL DENIES AZERBAIJAN'S
DEMAND ON PAYMENT OF $250M IN TAXES

Lukoil verseas, operator of foreign projects
of Russian oil company LUKOIL, has not received
official claims from the Azerbaijani Taxes
Ministry, said Grigoriy Volchek, spokesman
for the company.
Volchek said the tax bodies of Azerbaijan
are completing the examination of the activities
by Lukoil verseas B.V.O Ltd., a special company
established for the development of
ACG. The financial deal on sale of 10% stake
in ACG by LUKOIL was completed in 2003. At present
the official registration of the deal through
closing down Baku office of Lukoi Overseas B.V.O
Ltd is underway.
The examination, which started on March 5,
is due to completion by early April. The tax
bodies of Azerbaijan have not made
claims to Lukoil verseas, Volchek said.
