MAJOR KAZAKH OIL-TRANSPORTING COMPANY'S
NET PROFIT DOWN IN 2003

Almaty, 17 August: The Kazakh KazTransOil state oil transporting
company's (a part of the KazMunayGaz national oil and gas
company) net profit amounted to 9.304bn tenge [some 68.7m
dollars] (the current exchange rate is 135.33 tenge to the
dollar) in 2003 against 13.738bn tenge [101.5m dollars] in
2002. This information was carried by the company's financial
report published on the national press on Tuesday [17 August].
The report said the shareholders' equity of KazTransOil stood
at 146.191bn tenge [some 1.080m dollars] as of the end of
2003 against 138.732bn tenge [some 1.025m dollars] at the
end of 2002. The authorized capital remained unchanged at
32.885bn tenge [some 242.9m dollars].
The company's assets in the period under review rose to 188.666bn
tenge [some 1.394m dollars] from 184.224bn tenge [some 1.361m
dollars] in 2002.
In addition, the national press issued a report saying that
an order of the KazMunayGaz national company provided for
paying dividends in ordinary shares of KazTransOil in 2003
to the tune of 930.365bn tenge [over 6.8m dollars], including
the tax worth 139.555m tenge [over 1.03m dollars]. The dividend
rate was authorized on the expectation of 28.29 tenge for
one ordinary share.
